Miley Cyrus’ popularity had its share of scandals and brouhahas.  Pictures of her in not-so-nice poses swamped the internet, her failure to buckle-up while riding a vehicle in one scene of her 3-D movie raised a lot of not-so-friendly comments from different sectors, and the latest was her “sexy” photo-shoot for Vanity Fair magazine which also raised a lot of howls from mothers and detractors.

The Jonas Brothers, true-blue musicians, have been on the road for sometime but got their greatest career boost when they front-acted the highly successful Hannah Montana: Best of Both Worlds concert tour.

After the successful tour alongside Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers have proven their worth and marketability when they staged two concert tours of their own: the Look me in the Eyes Tour and the Burning Up tour.  They have also fronted for Avril Lavigne during the European leg of her The Best Damn Tour.  The Jonas Brothers’ successful Camp Rock project and Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream have also confirmed their superstar status.  J.O.N.A.S. (Junior Operatives Networking As Spies) which will be shown in 2009 is another Disney Channel TV show that is highly anticipated by fans.  It is slated to be shown by May or June of next year (2009).

The City of Hope

The City of Hope National Medical Center, a major non-profit organization, is a cancer center located in Duarte, California.  It houses the Becham Research Institute and the City of Hope Graduate School of Biological Sciences.  Founded in 1913, City of Hope started as a haven for the TB-stricken residents of the dry and desert-like climate of the San Gabriel Valley.

It has now grown into an institution of more than 300 physicians and scientists, and more than 2,500 employees.  The center’s efforts are directed towards finding cures to various forms of cancer, diabetes and HIV/AIDS.

The winning essay tells of the young girl’s missing her Dad who died in Iraq. It turned out to be a hoax. Concert organizers promptly withdrew the prize and awarded it to another winner.

•    A radio station stages a Hannah Montana dress-alike contest—for Dads

The contest was held at a mall in Illinois to award free Hannah Montana concert tickets to the winner for the sold-out concert at the Allstate Arena. Dads, shaved donned sequined tops, mini skirts, high heels, and (goodness!) hairy legs! To win, they have to do all sorts of things to pretend they are the teen-age pop superstar. One contestant rode in on a limo and immediately shook hands to amused shoppers, signed autographs, and stood on top of a table and belted a Hannah Montana song.

One contestant, who is of Indian descent, virtually transformed himself into Hannah Montana by shaved off the beard he has grown for years, applied make-up for the first time in his life, applied nail polish. He was doing it for his niece who is recovering from an ailment. He won the Hannah Montana concert tickets.

•       More than 150 macho men wore high heels in St. Louise and dashed 50 yards just to win the concert tickets for their daughters, sisters, or nieces.
•       Dads in Grand Rapis, Mich., joined an egg race for the concert tickets
•       In Milwaukee, to win backstage passes to the Chicago leg of the concert, Dads sang Hannah Montana’s songs at a mall
•       In Tampa, a man held on to a Hannah Montana statue for six straight days to win Hannah Montana concert ticket

DESTINY HOPE “MILEY” CYRUS

Called “Miley” (short for “Smiley” because of her happy demeanor and smiling face,) she was born November 23, 1992 and daughter of the great country singer Billy Ray Cyrus.

The main face and name among the Hannah Montana cast, Miley was born in Franklin, Tennessee, and grew up in Nashville. Her parents name her Destiny Hope because they believe she is going to accomplish great things. They could never be more prophetic than this.

EARLY START IN SHOWBIZ

As early as age nine, Miley guested as the character Kylie on “Doc,” a popular television series that stars her father Billy Ray Cyrus on the lead role. She later appeared on more productions including Tim Burton’s movie “Big Fish.”

HANNAH MONTANA CAST

At age eleven, Miley auditioned with Disney Channel for lead roles and “best friend” roles. She was not accepted then as the executives and casting directors of Disney Channel thought she was too small.
