Call Of Duty Games, Before We Have To Fork Out Another 70 Dollars
Is there something wrong with Call of Duty games? Not a whole lot. Wait a second, come to think about it, there is something wrong with MW 3. Its the time frame. I can play through it quick, which sucks for a game I love so much. If you think about MW 3 is very expensive compared to the game play, which can be done it around 14 hours.
When looking at games like Skyrim, which is essentially an FPS combined with RPG, it will take you 200 hours to finish the main story lines.
And because of its free roaming capability, and advanced AI that gives real life and randomness to NPCs, you have thousands of hours of game play waiting for you, and it is a bit cheaper than Call of Duty games.
Lets say the player in Skyrim wants to stay away from the main quest line. This is easily done. There is always something to do no matter where you go in the game.
The truth? Call of Duty games are getting shorter and shorter. Like all products that see the light of incredible success the Modern Warfare series is more about putting the product out as quickly as you can, it was not long ago the Black OPs appeared. Success has forced the developers to think more about money before the player. How much different MW 3 is from MW 2? Not much.
The makers of Skyrim have put out a truly innovative game building upon its predecessor: Oblivion. For MW3 why wasn't this done? I’ll tell you why
First off there are two kinds of games. Alley games, and Island games. Call of Duty games are alley games. The boundaries in alley games are close, very close. In this case the player is led down a certain constrained path.
Boundaries are not immediately perceptible in Island games, and are often referred to as sandbox games, popular for RPGs. It might take you all day to walk to one.
What do I mean? I think it would be really cool if future games like MW were created like an Island game, to give the player more play time hours. It is obvious that multi-player and survival mode, is were the hours of play time can be found in Call of Duty.
FPS game should be made more like Island games, with random battle possibilities outside of the main alley storyline. This would empower the player more, so the player can determine the way the game will evolve. Maybe you could call it a cross-genre RPS. Does it have to be RPG? No, but we should be able to build on your combat skills.
Hold on. Obviously alley games are scripted way easier, and thus heightens the drama of the game play. I still love MW 2 and 3. I think they are the best FPS games out there. Before we have to fork out another 70 dollars, I just think it is time to start thinking outside the box for once.
In the end I prefer to play Skyrim, as its combat mode is still FPS. I would suggest you do get the Call of Duty games, and make sure you get Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, and 3. They are a lot of fun
